A message from the Chair.
Welcome to the Borlase Boat Club Support Group. We exist to provide financial support and guidance to Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School Boat Club. A group of volunteer parents and former parents, the Group has existed for over 20 years.
We have three primary functions;
• Collect donations from parents through our registered charity status to assist the school financially in the day-to-day running of the club. These donations are crucial as rowing is a very expensive sport. As a committee we make decisions on where these donations are best spent. The Director of Rowing and a school governor also sit on the committee.
• Throughout the year we arrange social and fundraising events such as quiz nights, rowathons, balls, talks and new parents drinks. These events are vital to generate extra funds to help buy new equipment – a new Eight can cost up to £20,000! The Club also has a hospitality tent at the major events such as National Schools Regatta and Hampton Head so make sure you stop by for a cuppa and a chat. We have recently embarked on a programme of seeking corporate sponsors and we see this as the vital next area of focus. Please contact me personally if your company can help us.
• Our final role is to provide effective communication to the rowers and parents which we do via a monthly e-newsletter and social media. The newsletter includes race results, diary dates and a message from the Director of Rowing. I really hope your daughter or son enjoys being part of the Club and they reap the great rewards rowing for Borlase has to offer.
