The Junior Sculling Head takes place on Dorney Lake, home of the London 2012 Olympic Regatta. With nearly 4000 competitors from all over the UK and Europe it is the largest National Junior Head Race in the rowing calendar. Borlase had the 2nd highest entry in the event with 14 crews. We finished 5th out of 36 in the Victor Ludorum, beating our local rivals Claires Court, Windsor Boys, Henley and Great Marlow.
Our J18 4x was made up of Evan Fisher, Norbert Bolier, Matt Jones and Louis O'Connell and finished 14th in a very tough field with our local rivals Maidenhead taking the win.
Our WJ18 4x consisted of Daisy Bethell, Eden Hudson,Katya Krajewski and Tash Tassja Krajewski and finished in 25th with the Girls from Henley Rowing Club taking the win.
Our WJ17 4x was made up of Ikmun Gill, Lottie Heuser, Sara Helin and Charlotte Falconer and finished in 11th with Henley taking another win in this category.
The J16 4x finished in 4th Position, just 1 second behind Henley and Walton who dead heated and 6 seconds behind Claires Court who were the overall winners. The quad was made up of Sam Nicklin, Ed O'Neill, Olly Lane and Max Clark.
Our WJ15 8x consisted of Emily Farmer, Olivia Winter, Simrit Dhariwal, Amy Markwell, Ellie Harkin, Danni Taverner, Rebecca Lamping, Sasha Radford and cox Bridget Smith. The Crew continued their fine form from the Schools Head and finished in 5th place with Latymer taking the win, adding to their win the day before at the Schools Head.
This crew was made up from Bridget Smith, Izzy Alexandrou Tarin Sandher, Mel Stewart and coxed by Maya Jackson and were racing in our new boat that was purchased with money raised from our December Rowathon. They finished in 54th position with Henley taking another win.
This crew had high hopes of finishing in the medals after several wins throughout the season. However the crew of Ben Jackson, Ben Furley, Olly Gale and cox Olly Sage were slightly off their form finishing in 4th position. Tideway Scullers took the win in this event.
With a last minute illness, J14 rower Lucas Roberts jumped in to the crew along with Ed Norris, Olly Visintin, Ethan Lennard, Billy Macleod, Joel Scurlock, Gabe Dorosh, Deen Khwar and cox Alexia Martin. The raced hard and finished in 6th place with Walton taking the win.
This boat consisted of Eilidh Duncan, Molly Edmonson, Sophie Le Duc, Yasmin Aspinall, Anna Tennant, Poppy Morgan, Lily Meyer, Evie Petersen and cox Haleema Tanveer. Unfortunately a crab in the fist 200 meters of the race caused a snapped blade and the crew were unable to finish.
The crew of Anna Graham-Usabiaga, Elizabeth Rietdyk, Emily Stephens, Katherine Sayers, Poppy McLean-Inglis, Giulia Sarno, Poppy Murray, Charlottwe Dudley and cox Tia Pannell were hoping to continue their fine form at Bedford Head. They raced well and finished in 20th position with LEH taking the top spot.
Raife Foulkes, John Kennedy, Lucas Roberts, Toby Tremmeling, Elliot Kent, Keanu Tamtekin, Max Byng Maddick, Charles Betz, Josh Kaushal and cox Jackson Hatfield were racing in the final division of the day and looking to end the racing on a high. They raced well and are clearly one of the crews to watch out for in the future. They finished 6th, for many of the rowers this was their first ever race. The winning crew from Norwich will take some catching at National Schools.
Dom Young, Raife Foulkes, James Irons, Max Rhamain, Olly Cox, Mani Ipchi, Julian Coyne, Ben Thatcher and cox Cameron Clarke also competed in the J148x event as the B boat. They raced well finishing in 47th place.
